Every piece starts as a tiny thought — a cone, a cat, a slice of pizza. Bring me yours and I'll print the rest.

Hi! I'm Lys. 🌸

"I grew up between temple bells and neon signs — every earring I make is somewhere in that contrast."

I was born in Hawaii and moved to Japan as a teenager — so my heart lives in two places, two places I love. You'll see both in the work: the clean geometry of kamon family crests, the negative space of an ink wash, sakura petals on a black river and the gold seams of kintsugi, alongside island sun, hibiscus and the ocean I grew up next to. Then I love taking all of that, putting it through a Bambu Lab printer, and turning it into earrings.

Every piece is modeled, sliced, printed, deburred and assembled by me, by hand, from my little studio in Osaka. I work mostly in silk gold, silk silver, jade green and sunset pink PLA — sculptural, surprisingly durable, and feather-light on the lobe.

Browse my open designs on MakerWorld under Auris Elan, or DM me @auris_elan with the weirdest idea you've got. 小さなアトリエ、丁寧な仕事。

🌺🇯🇵 The Auris Family Story

Two places, one heart

Lys grows up between two very different worlds — the Japanese traditions of her mother's family and the ocean-centred Hawaiian upbringing of her father's side. Part of her childhood is spent in Hawaiʻi before moving to Japan as a teenager. Those two places become the foundation of Auris Élan.

⛩️
1863 · Yamaguchi, Japan

Kenji Nakamura

Leaves Yamaguchi at 21, arriving in Hawaiʻi in 1885 on one of the first government-sponsored immigrant ships — part of the roughly 29,000 Japanese labourers who came before the program ended in the 1890s. He works a sugarcane plantation contract, and chooses to stay. 🚢

🌴
c.1925 · Hawaiʻi

Haruto Auris

Japanese-Hawaiian/European ancestry — his Japanese ancestors had already lived in Hawaiʻi for generations, part of the islands' large Nikkei community.

🐚
c.1930 · Hawaiʻi

Leilani Kealoha

Native Hawaiian family roots, passing down stories about the ocean, plants, flowers, and the land.

🌺
Father

Kai Auris

Grows up surrounded by the Pacific — fishing, beaches, tropical plants, island life. Meets Aiko on a trip to Hawaiʻi. This is where Lys's love of the ocean, shells, whales, rays, and tropical flowers comes from. 🐠

🌸
Mother

Aiko Nakamura

Grows up in Kansai in a traditional household that loves gardens, flowers, textiles, ceramics and handmade objects. Travels to Hawaiʻi, where she meets Kai — Lys's Osaka/Kansai connection. 🏮

🌸
Present generation

Lys Auris

Born in Hawaiʻi, heritage Japanese × Hawaiian, moves to Japan as a teenager, home in Osaka. Grows up between both worlds — and turns them into Auris Élan. 🌸🌴

A constructed family history, written for Auris Élan's story — not a genealogical record. The 1885 Japanese immigration to Hawaiʻi it draws on is real history.

Worldwide · 世界

Shipped to everywhere you happen to be.

Each pair travels in a tiny cushioned envelope from Osaka, tracked all the way home. Pop me a message if you're somewhere unusual — I love a stamp collection.
